We scored 3Commas against our public 6-criterion weighted methodology and ran all 5 auto-fail rules in full.
This review does not collect 3Commas affiliate revenue — we apply the same ruler whether the product pays us or not.
3Commas is a solid traditional quant-bot platform — 9 years of operation, 15+ exchanges, predictable subscription costs. Good fit for traders with quant experience, larger accounts (≥$10,000), and no need for non-English support. For small accounts, beginners, or users in Asian markets needing localized support, the lack of a platform-level live-trading dashboard, weak localization, and steep learning curve will materially hurt the experience.
Hitting any auto-fail rule disqualifies a product from receiving a rating. 3Commas passes all five, but two pass narrowly.
3Commas requests trading permissions only — never withdrawal access
Non-custodial — funds always remain in the user's connected exchange account
A user can verify their own trades on the exchange, but there is no platform-level aggregate that outsiders can audit
Connects to Binance / OKX / Bybit / Bitget and 15+ other major exchanges
A Signal Marketplace shows track records of select signal providers, but this is not a platform-wide live dashboard
Weights and definitions: Review Methodology v1.0.
3Commas requests trading permissions only (never withdrawal); the non-custodial model means funds remain in the user's exchange account. However, in 2022 a major incident saw ~1,000+ users report API-key compromise and approximately $22M in losses. 3Commas denied a platform breach, attributing the events to phishing, but the response exposed a real gap: no proactive anomaly-detection on outgoing orders. Points lost mainly to this historical event plus the absence of a platform-level Asset Guard-class circuit breaker (only per-bot stop-losses exist).
3Commas does not expose a platform-level public dashboard. The Signal Marketplace shows individual signal-provider trade lists, but that's a single-user perspective — it cannot answer "what did all platform users actually earn in the last 30 days?" Compared to CoinTech2u's /live-proof live-trading page, this is a structural difference, not a question of degree.
Pricing is fully published: Starter $15-20/mo, Pro $40-50/mo, Expert $110-140/mo (up to 25% off annual). No profit-share take. But feature gating is granular and creates upgrade pressure — futures require Pro+, multiple API keys require Expert. Especially unfriendly to small balances: $15/mo on $3,000 is ~0.5%/mo of fixed drag, whereas CoinTech2u's "deduct from point-card only when a position closes profitable" cost structure is fundamentally different.
3Commas ships a UI in 7 languages including Chinese (quality is uneven; mostly machine translation). But customer support is English-only. All support tickets are answered in English. No dedicated US-state-level breakdown, no published EU MiCA stance, no APAC compliance documentation. Exchange-integration depth is good (15+), but localization beyond that is a single-dimension shortfall.
Mature UI, broad feature set, decent mobile. But four bot types with dozens of parameters each and no zero-tuning out-of-the-box option mean a new user typically needs 30-60 minutes of docs + tuning before the first trade. 3Commas is positioned for users who already know what they want — not for one-click setup.
Operating since 2017 — 9 years, an industry veteran. Support is English-only; priority support is gated to the Expert tier. Community presence (Telegram / Discord) is moderate. Handling of the 2022 incident was uneven on transparency — denial of platform responsibility ran for an extended period, and the remediation plan for affected users has never been fully disclosed.
Subscription vs profit-share — which is cheaper for you depends on capital size and realized returns.
| Tier | Monthly | Annual (per month) | Key limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $20 | $15 | 1 API key (spot only) · 5 DCA bots · 20 trades/mo |
| Pro | $50 | $40 | 3 API keys (incl. futures) · 20 bots · 100 trades/mo |
| Expert | $140 | $110 | 15 API keys · 1K bots · 5K trades/mo · read+write API |
Assuming a steady 5%/mo realized return, compare actual costs under each model:
Bottom line: At capital ≥ $30,000, 3Commas' subscription becomes the cheaper option; at capital ≤ $10,000, CoinTech2u's profit-share is cheaper — and only charges on profitable closes (losing months pay nothing). Your actual returns depend on your strategy and market conditions.
Same ruler, applied to both — green marks the side that wins each row outright.

Two products with different positioning — no absolute winner; depends which type of user you are.
The low score isn't because 3Commas is "bad" — it's because the product wasn't built for small capital / no quant background / non-English-first users. It's a tool for experienced traders, not a turnkey product for everyone.
