Common Trading Questions – Comprehensive FAQ (Consolidated)

Trading Terms Parameter Settings Risk Management

This article helps you systematically understand common trading questions while using the CoinTech2u App, including the meaning of common terms, key parameter settings and their impact, strategy start/stop logic, order and position coordination, and differences in profit statistics.

I. Trading Status and Terminology

1) What do Opened / Cleared / Closed mean?

  • Opened: A position has been established or an opening order submitted in your exchange USDT perpetual futures account. The system starts tracking this trade.
  • Cleared: The order has been settled (e.g., take-profit or stop-loss triggered). Related fees (such as platform 20% gas fee, deducted only on profitable orders) have been calculated or are pending deduction.
  • Closed: The trade has fully ended. The corresponding position is no longer held; the trade lifecycle is complete.

These statuses help you reconcile CoinTech2u dashboard with your exchange futures account, ensuring each trade’s lifecycle is clear and traceable.

II. TP/SL and Parameter Adjustment

2) How to adjust Stop Loss (SL) for a running coin?

Typical flow: In the CoinTech2u App coin trading details page, go to the parameter area, adjust SL and save. The system updates the corresponding position at the exchange on the next parameter sync. Depending on exchange/account constraints (e.g., minimum tick size, margin mode), SL may require being within a valid range or another check cycle to take effect. Prefer adjusting during non-extreme volatility to avoid frequent triggers.

3) What happens if I change the First Order Size while it’s running?

The first order size impacts the initial position size and the basis for calculating subsequent replenishment/grid spacing. If changed during runtime:

  • The new value affects future new orders, but existing orders continue under their original sizing logic.
  • If the strategy includes layered replenishment or grid, future trigger conditions and spacing may change.
  • Adjust only under capital and risk control allowance; avoid expanding risk exposure during high volatility.

4) Why didn’t it sell at the highest profit percentage?

The system relies on strategy triggers/thresholds—not just instantaneous peaks. Common reasons:

  • Take-profit requires reaching and stabilizing within target range; a spike may not meet the stabilization window.
  • Considering slippage, depth and matching, actual fills can differ from theoretical peaks.
  • With partial TP or grid-based profit taking, realization occurs across multiple price levels.

5) Why didn’t TP trigger even when target price was reached?

Possible causes: price touched briefly then fell back; strategy requires staying near target or meeting volume-price criteria; exchange-side matching/queueing prevented fill; or account constraints (min order size, min tick). You may raise thresholds or shorten confirmation window and check min execution limits.

III. Positions, Direction and Strategy Runtime

6) Why does the bot go long/short without hedging?

Most strategies are trend/grid-based and may operate one-sided (long-only or short-only) under certain conditions. This isn’t necessarily wrong; it depends on strategy design and current market structure. If you need both directions simultaneously, ensure your account enables Hedge Mode and the strategy supports bi-directional grid/hedging.

7) Why would the system automatically disable Cycle Strategy?

Common triggers: account risk threshold reached, insufficient funds, API permission or exchange limitation anomalies, abnormal volatility detected requiring protective pause. Check balance and margin, API validity, exchange status notices, and strategy error logs.

8) Why do profit numbers differ between the exchange and CoinTech2u?

Differences may come from: statistical scope (per-trade vs. period aggregation), fee inclusion method (with/without rebates/discounts), settlement timing, inclusion of unrealized PnL, and currency conversion (if display units differ). Compare the same timepoint and the same dimension (settled profit vs. including unrealized).

IV. Recommended Initial Setup and Onboarding

9) What initial setup is recommended for first-time use?

We recommend using Quick Setup to let the system auto-configure parameters based on your capital size. With sufficient margin in your USDT perpetual futures wallet, start with smaller first order size and conservative leverage, observe performance, then optimize parameters. See Help Center: “Getting started / How CoinTech2u Works”.

10) Do I need to keep the App open all the time?

No. The bot runs 24/7 on servers. The App is mainly for monitoring and parameter adjustment. You can check positions and orders anytime in your exchange futures account; platform and exchange data will match.

V. Operations and Account Coordination

11) How to create and bind sub-accounts on OKX/Bitget?

Use Fast API/Portfolio Management features to quickly create and bind sub-account APIs (including trading permission and asset query). Then correctly bind the API Key / Secret / Passphrase to CoinTech2u; also enable futures functions and suitable margin mode and leverage at the exchange side.

12) How are fees and Gas charged?

Exchange maker/taker trading fees and platform 20% gas fee (deducted from point card balance only on profitable orders) are different dimensions. Use exchange rebate links and platform point card bulk discounts to reduce overall cost; reduce unnecessary frequent trades at the strategy level.

VI. Common Troubleshooting and Checks

13) TP/SL didn’t trigger. How to diagnose?

  • Confirm if target price was only a brief touch without meeting stabilization/confirmation window.
  • Check account minimum order size/min tick constraints.
  • Review exchange matching/queueing; if needed, raise order priority or adjust trigger thresholds.
  • Verify strategy logs for protective pauses or anomalies.

14) Parameters didn’t take effect or are delayed?

Most parameters take effect on the next sync/poll; impact on existing orders is limited or condition-triggered. Adjust during lower volatility and observe for a period to confirm.

15) Why do grid/ladder strategy fill prices differ from expectations?

Slippage, depth and queueing affect actual fills vs. theoretical grid prices. With protective rules enabled (e.g., avoiding extreme jump prices), the system may adjust timing and quantities.

VII. Capital and Risk Management

16) How to choose leverage and margin mode?

Beginners: use lower leverage and isolated/hedge mode (if hedging needed), ensure sufficient USDT futures wallet funds; as strategy stabilizes and account grows, consider optimizing leverage and replenishment layers.

17) Why start with small trial runs?

Small trials validate strategy logic, exchange settings and API permissions in a real environment, reducing risks from initial configuration errors.

VIII. Data Consistency and Reconciliation

18) How to ensure consistency between exchange and platform data?

All trades occur in your exchange account; the platform handles strategy and ordering. When differences arise, reconcile against exchange futures account real data first, and check platform logs and records (e.g., gas fee deductions).

19) When is the platform gas fee charged?

Only when the order is profitable and settled, deducted from point card balance at 20%. No profit, no charge.
